Aubin was a beast in the QMJHL. His stellar play in juniors caught the eye of the Pens and they drafted him 76th overall in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft.
In 1998-99 he got hsi first oportunity to play for the Pens, appearing in 17 games, putting up two shut outs, and recording a 2.22 GAA. After that, he was supposed to be the heir apparent to Tom Barasso.
The following year, he won the starting job, playing in 51 games and leading the NHL in rookie goaltending with 23 wins, which also made him only the 2nd Pens goalie to win more than 20 games (he did it again in 00-01).
But like many players in Pens history, injuries took their toll. He began missing time and the Pens sought out a replacement with Johan Hedberg. After that, he was sent back to WBS where he split time in the NHL and AHL, eventually moving on to Toronto.
This Aubin card comes from the SPA set. Aubin's signature is very flowery and bubble-like. He puts his number on there too so between that and the huge "JS", you can figure out who this is.

Welcome to The Real DFG's Pittsburgh Penguin Autograph Project. My goal is to eventually try and get at least one autograph of every player to lace up the skates in an NHL game for the Pittsburgh Penguins. It could have been for one game or 700 games, I will add them. Occasionally I may post cards of former players in their new team uniforms. While the goal is to get autos in Pens uni's, it isn't always possible. Since the team has been in existence since 1967, the list is pretty large. Last I checked, it was somewhere in the range of 624 different players. Currently, I sit at about 100 autographs (with some duplication). Enjoy the posts.
